孫思邈養生秘訣就是要"十二少",少思、少念、少事、少語、少笑、少愁、少樂、少喜、少好、少惡、少欲、少怒。因為"多思則神殆,多念則志散,多欲則志昏,多事則形勞,多語則氣虧,多笑則臟傷,多愁則心攝,多樂則意溢,多喜則忘錯混亂,多怒則百脈不定,多好則專迷不理,多惡則憔悴無歡。

To maintain a healthy life, people with neutral body constitution should practice moderation, maintain a good balance in diet and between work and rest, maintain good daily routine and exercise. It is important to note that body constitutions are not static, so it is important not only to attain, but to maintain a good body constitution.
To maintain health, regulate the diet and avoid taking herbal medicine. This is because people with neutral body constitutions has balanced yin and yang, they do not require medicinal herbs to readjusts this balance. Taking these medicinal herbs might instead result in a disturbance to the balance.
Diet should be light and bland and should not be picky. Eat variety of food from “the five kinds of flavors” in TCM.
Avoid smoking or drinking.
Maintaining calm mood and practicing self-cultivation is important in maintain health for people with neutral body constitution. Our mood and mental health strongly affect the health of our body. The seven emotions in TCM are regarded as one of the major cause of illnesses. Sun Simao, an ancient TCM pharmacist, said that maintaining health means practicing “twelve less”: less thinking, less thoughts, less work, less talk, less laughter, less worry, less leisure, less joy, less interest, less hatred, less greed, and less anger. This is because too much thinking harms mental vitality, too much thought cause distraction, too much greed cause delirium, too much work cause tiredness, too much talk cause deficiency in Qi, too much laughter harms the viscera, too much worry cause anxiety, too much leisure makes one carried away, too much joy cause confusion, too much anger cause irregular pulse, too much interest cause stubbornness, and too much hatred makes one wan and unhappy.
A calm mood helps balances Yin and Yang and moderates the six pulses.
